Good News: God Is up to Something

We do not know always what God is doing, or when He will bring His plans to fruition. However, one thing is certain: God is up to something.

The context of this passage: The Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar pillaged Jerusalem, and took the Israelites captive. Many decades had passed, and the Israelites still found themselves in exile. They probably wondered: “What has happened to us? “When will we return to our land?” “How we long to rejoice and worship in the Temple again!”. Amidst the plight and the agony of the exile, God sent them the good news:

“This is God’s Word on the subject: As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out — plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Jeremiah 29:10-11 The Message

Similar to the Israelites’ situation in this passage, life sometimes takes us to places where we find ourselves wondering what God is doing. It may be the case of a serious illness, a financial difficulty, a broken relationship, etc.

However difficult or endless life’s troubles may seem, may these words be an encouragement to you: God is up to something. We do not always know what He is doing, or even when He will bring His plans to fruition. But one thing is certain: The God of the universe is working on our behalf.  We know this because the LORD Himself says it: “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out” Those plans might come to fruition by the time you finish reading this post, or many decades later. For however long we must wait, let us hold onto this good news: God is up to something.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding us that in the midst of any sorrows and heartbreak this life brings, You know what You are doing, May this good news bring hope, peace, and joy to our hearts.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
